President's Message - November 12, 2021

This week the US House voted on two new cybersecurity bills. One to help small businesses and the other to ensure the SBA was protecting the data. We have been talking about the NIST Cybersecurity Framework for the last 5 years but did you know that there is also a NIST Privacy Framework? Laws continue to pass that we believe will start to enforce these standards on all businesses. One of the latest was a federal law that provided safe harbor to HIPAA-covered entities and business associates from breach penalties and required audits if they implemented the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) for the prior 12 months.
